The short version: Rent Cars Georgia isn’t a rental company. It’s a Georgian booking platform where 51 local rental companies list their cars, so you compare 441 cars in one search instead of messaging a dozen Instagram pages. You pay a small booking fee online and the rest to the owner when you get the keys.
That setup is why the conditions look nothing like the airport chains. Below are the real numbers from our live listings on 24 September 2026, including the parts that aren’t perfect.
Why choose Rent Cars Georgia: the short answer
- No credit card needed. The booking fee goes through PayPal, which takes debit cards, and 83% of cars accept cash for the rest at pickup.
- 222 cars need no deposit at all. On 82% of the fleet the deposit is $100 or less.
- Insurance is already in the price. Collision damage waiver comes with 95% of cars and third-party liability (TPL) with 98%. Full coverage is available on 90%.
- Pickup at all three international airports (Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi) and at six other places. Delivery fees are already inside the price you see.
- Free cancellation up to 5 days before pickup, and a car of the same or a higher class, or a full refund of your booking fee, if a partner lets you down.
The fleet in numbers
Every figure here is a count of real cars in our live search, not a slogan. We pulled them on 24 September 2026 across all 441 cars that can be collected in Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi.

Car rental in Georgia without a credit card
At the international desks at Tbilisi airport the rule is the same as everywhere: a credit card in the main driver’s name, with the deposit blocked on it for the whole trip. Debit cards are often refused, and a frozen limit hurts if that card is also your travel money.
Georgian rental companies have always worked with cash, and booking through us keeps it that way. The whole payment flow is three steps:
Pay the booking fee online
A small part of the price is paid when you book, through PayPal: with a PayPal account, or as a guest with a debit or credit card. It’s the only thing you pay before the trip.
Pay the rest when you get the keys
The balance goes straight to the rental company at pickup. 83% of cars accept cash, and each listing shows whether a card works too.
Leave a deposit only if the car needs one
222 cars have none. Where there is one it’s most often $100, paid at pickup and handed back when the car returns in the same state.
No-deposit and low-deposit car rental
Deposits are where local companies beat the chains by the widest margin. This is how the 441 cars in the search break down:
| Deposit | Cars | Typical models |
|---|---|---|
| None ($0) | 222 | Subaru Forester, Jeep Renegade, Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Cruze, Mitsubishi Outlander |
| $10–100 | 141 | Toyota Camry, Subaru Forester, Jeep Patriot, Toyota RAV4 |
| $101–200 | 57 | Toyota Prius, Hyundai Elantra, Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Fusion |
| $201–300 | 12 | Ford Mustang, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler |
| Over $300 | 9 | Land Rover Defender, Maserati Levante, Mercedes-AMG G63. The highest is a BMW XM at $1,000. |

What insurance covers, and what it never does
Most cars come with the basics already in the price: a collision damage waiver (CDW) on 95% of the fleet and third-party liability (TPL) on 98%. CDW limits what you pay if the car is damaged, though a deductible may still apply, so ask the partner for the amount before you drive off.
Full coverage is available on 90% of cars. On 160 of them it’s already included; on the rest you add it at checkout, with the daily price shown before you pay. Even full coverage has limits. No policy in Georgia covers everything.
What no policy will cover
- Driving over the alcohol limit. In Georgia it’s 0.3 g/l (0.03%): one glass of wine can put you over.
- Roads the car isn’t cleared for. 251 cars (57%) are allowed on the Mestia–Ushguli road and only 5 on the Abano Pass to Tusheti. Each car page says which.
- Off-road driving, river crossings and unofficial tracks.
- Damage you didn’t report, or a car driven on after an accident without the partner’s OK.
- Anyone behind the wheel who isn’t on the booking.
What you can rent, and what it costs
SUVs make up most of the fleet, because that’s what Georgian roads reward. 440 of the 441 cars are automatic and 71% have all-wheel drive.
| Class | Cars | All-in from | Typical models |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy and hybrid | 34 | $30/day | Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Volt |
| Sedans | 57 | $38/day | Toyota Camry, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Ford Fusion |
| SUVs and 4x4s | 281 | $36/day | Subaru Forester, Jeep Renegade, Jeep Cherokee, Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota RAV4 |
| 7-seaters and minivans | 40 | $51/day | Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota Sienna, Mercedes Vito, Honda Odyssey |
| Luxury and sports cars | 53 | $76/day | Mercedes C300, BMW X5, Ford Mustang, Mercedes-AMG G63 |
| Camping cars with a rooftop tent | 5 | $138/day | Jeep Renegade, Jeep Patriot, Toyota 4Runner |
“All-in” is the per-day price the search showed for a 7-day rental from Tbilisi in October 2026, booking fee and delivery included. A week in January costs about the same as a week in July. Prices are in US dollars; the site can also show euros.

Pickup at Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi airports, and six other places
There are nine pickup points: Tbilisi city and Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), Kutaisi and Kutaisi Airport (KUT), Batumi and Batumi Airport (BUS), plus Kobuleti, Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) and Zugdidi.
Airport delivery isn’t free by default, and we’d rather tell you here than at the kerb. Each car’s delivery fee is built into the price you see, and it depends on where the car is based:
| Airport | Cars that can meet you | Free delivery | Typical delivery fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| TBSTbilisi International | 344 | 41 cars | $15–25 for most Tbilisi-based cars |
| KUTKutaisi International | 296 | 83 cars | Free to about $20 for Kutaisi-based cars |
| BUSBatumi International | 239 | 22 cars | $70–125, unless the car is based in Batumi |
One-way rentals work between cities when the car serves both: collect it in Tbilisi, leave it in Batumi or Kutaisi, and the drop-off fee is in the price before you book. Within the cities, many partners will bring the car to your hotel or apartment; send us the address after you book.
Arrival details for each airport: Tbilisi Airport car rental, Kutaisi Airport car rental and renting a car in Batumi. Starting in the capital? Read renting a car in Tbilisi.
Which car for which road
Georgia is small, but its roads run from new motorway to one of the most dangerous passes in the Caucasus. Pick the car for the hardest road on your plan, not the average one.
| Route | The road | What to rent |
|---|---|---|
| Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Kakheti wine country | Asphalt, with village potholes | Anything. A hybrid saves fuel on the Gombori Pass. |
| Tbilisi → Kazbegi (Georgian Military Highway) | Paved, about 155 km, over the Jvari Pass at 2,379 m | Any car from May to October. In winter: AWD and winter tyres, and the pass closes after heavy snow. |
| Kutaisi → Mestia (Svaneti) | Paved mountain road, about 230 km | Any car. An SUV is more comfortable. |
| Mestia → Ushguli | About 45 km, unpaved in places | Only a car marked “Mestia–Ushguli route allowed”: 251 of 441. |
| Pshaveli → Omalo (Tusheti, Abano Pass) | Unpaved, open roughly June to October, prone to landslides | Just 5 cars are cleared for it. Most travellers hire a local 4x4 with a driver, and we’d do the same. |

Rent Cars Georgia vs airport chains vs Instagram rentals
There are three ways to rent a car in Georgia, and each has its place. Here they are side by side:
| Rent Cars Georgia | International desk at the airport | Private renter on Instagram or Facebook | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Credit card | Not needed | Required, in the main driver’s name | Usually not |
| Deposit | $0 on 50% of cars | Blocked on your card for the trip | Varies, usually cash |
| When you pay | A small fee online, the rest at pickup | Online in advance or at the desk | Often an advance by bank transfer |
| Choice | 441 cars from 51 companies | One company’s fleet | One owner’s cars |
| Checked before listing | Every car, against its registration document | Corporate fleet | No outside check |
| If the car doesn’t show | Same or higher class, or a full refund of the fee | Company policy | Up to the owner |
| Minimum age | 21 on 70% of cars | Often 21–25, with a young-driver fee | Varies |

What you need to rent a car in Georgia
- Passport or national ID card. The partner checks it at pickup.
- Your driving licence. Georgia accepts foreign licences for up to a year of your stay. Whether you also need an International Driving Permit or a certified translation depends on where your licence was issued: see documents you need to rent a car in Georgia.
- Age 21+ and 3 years behind the wheel. Some cars ask for 23 or 25, and the car page says so before you book.
- A way to pay: a card or PayPal for the booking fee, and cash, or a card where the car accepts one, for the balance and any deposit.
Support, cancellations, and what if the car doesn’t show
24/7 on WhatsApp
Our team answers day and night, before, during and after the rental. Prefer a call? +995 558 10 98 54.
Free cancellation
Cancel at least 5 days before pickup and the booking fee comes back in full. Later than that, it isn’t refunded.
A car, guaranteed
If the booked car doesn’t turn up, you get one of the same or a higher class at no extra cost, or a full refund of the booking fee.
Route check before you pay
Send us your itinerary and we’ll tell you which cars are allowed on it, before you book anything.
If there’s a disagreement about damage or the deposit, we step in between you and the partner. The rental contract is between you and the rental company, but you won’t be arguing alone.
When Rent Cars Georgia isn’t the best choice
We’d rather lose a booking than earn a bad review. Skip us if:
- You’re only staying in Tbilisi. Bolt taxis are cheap and everywhere, parking in the Old Town is hard, and the car would spend most of the trip parked.
- You want a brand-new car. 73% of the fleet is from model years 2015–2020, and only 54 cars are from 2022 or later. Every car is checked before it’s listed, but few are showroom-fresh.
- Your dates may change at the last minute. Cancel within 5 days of pickup and the booking fee isn’t refunded.
